The ‘Lunch with a Side of’ workshop series was created to facilitate business education in bite-sized chunks. Each workshop is limited to 6 people to allow for one-on-one attention with the educator. Workshops are during the lunch hour to help minimize time off from work and lunch is provided by Nielsen Bros. Market & Deli. The workshops have averaged favorable ratings from participants and some workshops have even been sold out months in advance.

In this small group workshop designed to give you one-on-one attention with a social media strategist, you will learn best practices moving into 2018. Learn how content, advertising, community management work together to hinder or help your online impressions and overall reach. The workshop will consist of a one-hour presentation from 12pm-1pm, followed by an optional one-hour question and answer period where you can ask any specific questions about how what you have learned relates to your business.

In this small group workshop designed to give one-on-one attention with a professional website developer, attendees learned the steps for creating a website and free online tools to try and make the process easier. The workshop consisted of a one-hour presentation from 12pm-1pm, followed by an optional one-hour question and answer period where attendees could ask any specific questions about how what they have learned relates to their business’s website. Lunch with a Side of ‘Google My Business’

Get Found on Google Search & Maps. Have you ever wondered how to get your business to show up in the Local 3-pack section of Google? We’ve all seen those 3 businesses that land just under the map on the Google search results page, but how do you get your business to appear in this section? In this workshop, attendees learned how to create or claim their free local business listing using Google My Business and how to optimize local business listing to increase chances of appearing in the Google Local 3-pack section. Research shows that 80% of consumers used a search engine when looking for information about a local business. Research also shows that only 44% of retailers have claimed their Google local business listing. Topics discussed were; Get your business on Google for free, Learn how to take advantage of Google My Business, How to create a FREE website through Google My Business in just 5 minutes.

& the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea

Attendees for this workshop got an inside look at our recycling successes in Carmel and areas where we can improve. Monterey Regional Waste Management District Communications Director Jeff Lindenthal provided an overview of recycling in the city and the new Materials Recovery Facility the District opened in February where Carmel recyclables are now processed. Jeff highlighted efforts the City of Carmel is taking to reduce waste and the recent initiative to eliminate single use plastic products from food service.
