Hearts of Carmel Returns

Hearts of Carmel returns in Summer 2026 — a celebration of the artistic spirit that has defined Carmel-by-the-Sea for more than a century.

Debuting in 2020, the program was inspired by a simple belief: art has the power to bring people together. Created by the Carmel Chamber of Commerce, Hearts of Carmel reflects the legacy of a village where artists, makers, and storytellers have long shaped its identity.

From the beginning, one-of-a-kind heart sculptures — designed by local artists and sponsored by local businesses — have transformed Carmel into a walkable gallery filled with color, creativity, and discovery.

In recent years, the program introduced Dogs of Carmel — a playful chapter celebrating the town’s beloved dog-friendly culture. Now, in 2026, Hearts of Carmel returns — a nod to our roots and a renewed expression of Carmel’s creative legacy.

Together,  programs have commissioned more than 70 original works, supported local businesses and charities, and created a shared experience for residents and visitors alike.

The Heart to Heart Trail

In 2026, Hearts of Carmel will once again line the streets of Carmel-by-the-Sea as part of the “Heart to Heart” Trail — an interactive art walk inviting the community to explore, discover, and connect.

Each sculpture will be:

• Created by a local artist
• Sponsored by a local business
• Displayed throughout the village
• Auctioned to benefit local charities

This is more than an art installation — it’s a celebration of who we are as a community.
