    The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea has immediate employment opportunities in the Public Works Department for two Project Managers to help oversee the City’s Capital Improvement Program. The City is looking for experienced professionals to fill a permanent position and a 2 year term position. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, with advanced level of experience managing capital improvement projects. 

    As a Project Manager,  you will:

    Prepare requests for proposals and contracts for professional engineering,     construction, etc.
    Administer professional services contracts for the design and construction of public improvements.
    Review project plans, maps, specifications, estimates.
    Develop, monitor, and update project schedules.
    Confers with  developers, contractors and engineers on questions and concerns.
    Coordinate, monitors, and administers Federal, State and local funding for transportation projects.
    Supervises the preparation of grant applications.
    Prepares and presents staff reports to relevant City decision-making boards.

    Ideal Candidate:

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university with major course in civil engineering, construction management, public administration or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in public works, engineering, project management or construction management.
     
    KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS
    · CEQA and NEPA regulatory permitting processes.
    · Understand and interpret engineering construction plans & specifications.
    · Conduct comprehensive engineering studies and prepare reports.
    · Ensure project compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations.
    · Prepare and monitor project budgets.
